Chateau Limousin’s is a family owned and operated Limousins Stud based in Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia. Husband and wife team John & Beverley McIntyre established the herd in 1983 with the purchase of 11 Cow Families from the Streamville/ARH dispersal.

Since then with the growing of their own family with sons Andrew and Ross they continued building the stud herd also. Over the years Chateau Limousins has featured cattle at Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra Royal Shows, numerous country shows, and the annual Limousin National Show and Sale. As well as supporting many multi vendor bull and female sales throughout Victoria and Southern New South Wales with Chateau’s genetics selling to 6 Australian states, New Zealand, China and Indonesia.

Over the past 35 years we have created the “Chateau” type of easy doing cattle with capacity and volume with a strong emphasis on docility, structure and fertility.

Through intensive E.T. and A.I. programs utilising genetics from all over the globe we have grown the herd to about 90 breeders with the majority of the herd being French Pure. In 2010 we introduced Polled French Pure genetics with great success over our traditional horned cows.

Son Andrew started his own stud in 1998 as a junior member. “Montrose”Limousins were mostly black using proven cow families from the Chateau herd as a base.

As the two herds were ran and operated side by side John & Beverley and Andrew & partner Jenna (now wife) made the decision in 2014 to incorporate both studs under the Chateau banner. With the joining of the studs it has seen Chateau Limousins have a variety of French Pure, Polled & Black Limousin cattle to offer their clients.

After 32 years of private treaty and multi vendor sales 2015 saw the Inaugural Chateau Limousin Sale. Featuring a strong line up of Bulls for sale to new & existing clients.
